Vision

iTrades — Product Vision

Overview

iTrades is a web-based trading journal and performance analytics platform designed to help traders record, review, and understand their trading activity.

The application combines trade tracking, daily journaling, account management, performance analytics, TradingView charting, and historical review into a single platform.

iTrades is designed as a Trading Operating System rather than only a trade journal.

Primary Goals

iTrades should allow a user to:

  • Maintain multiple trading accounts under one login.
  • Record trades across multiple asset classes.
  • Record individual trade executions including scale-ins and scale-outs.
  • Automatically calculate trade and account P&L.
  • Journal individual trades.
  • Maintain a separate daily trading journal.
  • Review performance through a monthly P&L calendar.
  • Review trades visually using TradingView charts.
  • Analyze performance across accounts, strategies, symbols, and time periods.
  • Search and review historical trading activity.

Supported Asset Classes for Version 1

  • Equities
  • Options
  • Futures
  • Forex
  • Cryptocurrency

Version 1 Philosophy

Version 1 should prioritize:

  1. Accurate trade data.
  2. Reliable P&L calculations.
  3. Fast trade entry.
  4. Useful journaling.
  5. Clear performance visualization.
  6. Strong account and user data separation.
  7. A clean and responsive interface.

Version 1 should favor a strong foundation over feature quantity.

Target User

The initial target user is an individual trader who trades through one or more brokerage or trading accounts and wants a centralized location for journaling, trade review, and performance analysis.

The architecture should allow multi-user operation from the beginning.

Long-Term Vision

Future versions may include:

  • Broker integrations
  • Automated trade imports
  • AI-assisted journal analysis
  • Advanced risk analytics
  • Mobile applications
  • Options analytics
  • Market event overlays
  • Advanced TradingView integration
  • Sharing and collaboration features
  • Public/private trade reports
  • API access

These features are not required for Version 1 unless specifically moved into the active roadmap.

Product Principles

Data First

Trade records and calculations must be accurate and trustworthy.

Journal Without Friction

Recording a trade or daily journal should require as little unnecessary interaction as possible.

Useful Analytics

Statistics should help users understand behavior and performance rather than simply display large quantities of metrics.

Account Independence

Each trading account should be independently measurable while also supporting combined portfolio views.

Extensible Architecture

New asset classes, analytics, integrations, and journal capabilities should be addable without redesigning the core trade model.
